Project 3. Feedback System Overhaul

Goal

This project's goal is to create an unified feedback system for editor-to-editor and public-to-editor communications. Key objectives of this work include: (1) Providing editors and the public with efficient and intuitive processes and tools for contacting editors. http://contact.dmoz.org/ is currently a non-functional draft mockup of a new contact page; (2) Describing current feedback processes and tools; (3) Designing a new and improved feedback system for editor-to-editor and public-to-editor communications; and (4) Replacing existing staff feedback system.

Responsibilities of Project Leader

• 1) Document functional requirements for editor-to-editor, public-to-editor feedback systems.
• 2) Identify and document all existing public-to-editor and editor-to-editor contact points (i.e. documents, tools, etc.) which currently link to the feedback tool or staff@dmoz.org.
• 3) Describe any additional contact points that should be added.
• 4) Describe all possible destinations (e.g. feedback form, update URL tool, documentation) and the conditions for which a user (public or editor) should be directed there.
• 5) Document a Contact Flow Chart which will form the basis of redesign for the feedback system.

Responsibilities of Project Team Members

• Work with project leader on the following specific tasks:
• 1) Identifying existing contact points
• 2) Describing current editor-to-editor, public-to-editor and staff feedback systems
• 3) Identifying and describing functional requirements
• 4) Designing wireframes and mock-ups the show user interaction with the feedback system.
• 5) Designing Contact Flow Chart

Responsibilities of Project Sponsor

• Support project team by working directly with technical staff to ensure proper implementation of functional requirements.
• Contribute to functional requirements discussion as it relates to current staff feedback system.

Measures of Success

• Deliverables for this project include
• 1) Requirements Document that outlines the functional requirements for the feedback system, including specific requirements for editor-to-editor and public-to-editor feedback. Requirements/recommendations for improving current systems should be included in the Pequirements Document.
• 2) User interface mock-ups and wireframes of a feedback system.
• 3) A detailed Contacts Flow Chart that describes the process for contacting editors, the process by which feedback is submitted, responded and logged. The Flow Chart should provide a visual representation of the functional requirements.
